What Is Female Foeticide?

Female Foeticide is to kill an unborn baby in the womb of mother.  In this Process a foetuses is aborted just because this is a Female foetuses. By the the use of technology (ultrasound) people are able to know the sex of baby in the womb of mother and sometimes killed by some cruel people before the birth of baby. Abortion is not bad where continuance of Pregnancy can affect the health of mother; But People actually are misusing the Technique.  So we can say that female foeticide is merciless/inhume deed of cruel people. 

 

Who Is Responsible?

Gender discrimination is the main reason behind the female foeticide. Girls are not considered good. The reasons behind this are various problems in society which play role in discrimination of boys and girls. These problems include dowry system, cruelty against women, thinking of society, sexual and physical abuse  etc. dowry system has very important role in the female foeticide, poor parents don’t want a girl because they have to spend a huge amount of money on the marriage of their daughter. Thinking of society towards girl is a big problem, because girls are not treated well in society, they are not secure; they can’t go alone anywhere without their family.  Another reason is regular news of physical and sexual abuse of the girls. Cruelty towards women is also seen in our society. Girls are not treated as the boys are treated. The difference is also found between the food, care and medical aid of the boys and girls.

Apart from above problems Parents, doctors and society is also responsible for the female foeticide. Parents are killing girls because they want a boy. Doctors are involved in abortions because they want to earn quick money. Society is also responsible because of its customs, thinking and lack of awareness.

 

How to Overcome?

To overcome this problem first of all bad customs like dowry system should be banned/stopped. There should be strict punishment for the doctors and parents involved in the female foeticide. Thinking of people is also need to be changed. There should be proper respect of women in society. There should be no physical or sexual abuse of women. As already various schemes are running in the favor of women some more schemes should run. Awareness in people is required through the media. As already some states providing free education to the girls and also providing accessories of study, this scheme should also be followed in other states too. There should be simpler method of complaints registration if women are being abused or any cruelty is done against the women.  Female – Male sex ratio is declining day by day and for healthy society this need to be balanced. Some quick steps are required so this problem will not spread more.
